After a bear mauling in Alaska left Dan Bigley permanently blind, journalist Debra McKinney was there to help tell his story, being released in their first book, "Beyond the Bear." Born in Hillsboro, McKinney got her start in newspapers at the Hillsboro Argus before she headed north, working at the Anchorage Daily News for more than 20 years.
